Munro League : CABJ Scored a Frustrating End for FC Jelong

Last Saturday marked another win for CABJ as they made it through for the quarterfinals in the Munro knockout league leaving FC Jelong a frustrating end. The game had it led by FC Jelong holding on its score CABJ- 0 FC JELONG – 1 till the last minute of the game, but unfortunately ended not as what they’d expected.

CABJ stayed calm when FC Jelong scored their first goal 3 minutes in the first half of the game. Though it was frustrating to watch CABJ struggled to tie the game, havng 58% of possession in the first half, hope was bright when  FC Jelong’s defender was raised a red card which then led CABJ to a penalty kick.

Unfortunately, though the shot was on target  the penalty taken by Ameer Aizat was unsuccessful as FC Jelong’s goalkeeper managed to block the ball and although it slipped from his hands and went back to Ameer Aizat, his shot then went too high above the goal post.

“ I was confident at first but as soon as the whistle blew I panicked” said Ameer Aizat

Second half was intense. Though it gave an advantage to CABJ playing against  10 men from FC Jelong, the strategy from Jelong to guard the goal post made it impossible for CABJ to score.
Nearly all of the players from FC Jelong stayed half field manning the post. Though it seemed hopeless for CABJ to score, 1 minute before the final whistle blew; Azrul Raimie was tackled during an attack which then gave CABJ another deserving penalty.

Knowing that was CABJ’s only shot to tie the game, fans and players were confident that they won’t be leaving Munro League early just yet. Penalty taken by Ruffie Abdul Aziz, tied the game to CABJ – 1 FCJelong – 1.  Seconds after the game resumed the whistle blew, which then forced both teams to go through the penalty shootout as there should be only one winner to go through the next round for this league.

First penalty taken by Ikram Al Rashid hit the right post followed by FC Jelong’s failed attempt to lead the score. Second shot from CABJ was taken by Azrul Raimie leading the score to 1-0. FC Jelong’s second shot to score also failed which then left CABJ’s Ruffie Abdul Aziz to seal the deal. CABJ then won the 1st knockout round in the Munro League against FC Jelong with a final score CABJ – 2 FC Jelong – 0 in the penalty shoot-out.

Next game in the Munro League quarter final round, CABJ will be facing Southern FC on Saturday 15th Sept, 3:45 pm at Setia Alam Field (b)
