COPA BJ: CABJ's League Debut

COPA BJ: CABJ’S LEAGUE DEBUT

Last Saturday marked CABJ’s first appearance in a football league where tested their competitiveness, strength and also playing abilities in the field through the COPA BJ LEAGUE 2011. The football league was organized by MPP19 and supported by The Star Newspaper. It received great signups from various football teams such as UTUSAN, NST, Zon14 and many more. CABJ had two teams participating in the league.

There were a total of 11 teams participating in the league, each determined to bring home the winning prize money of RM600 and a trophy.

CABJ managed to make it into the Top 4 after playing their group matches. During the semifinals, they lost against MPP24, dashing their hopes of winning their first ever league title. In the match to determine 3rd and 4th place, CABJ drew with UTUSAN after full time, forcing the game to be determined by penalty shootouts. Displaying both shooting and goalkeeping finesse, luck avoided CABJ and they had to be content with just 4th placing.

“They played well, and for them to get 4th place is good enough for their league debut. They’re ready, and with more discipline and training, they’ll succeed well!” said Najib, one of the many spectators there.

Tengku Ahmad Tengku Kasim, the President for MPP19, announced that with the COPA BJ League will be an annual football league. This league will be there for all football lovers to come and participate and play against teams from the surrounding area.
