Final score: CABJ 1 - 2 Seri Kenangan
CABJ's
third game in the league was against Sri Kenangan. A team that we are familiar
with who were formerly known as Lantun FC.
The
match was played on a beautiful Sunday evening at 3.30pm. Usually the
weather during this time is hot and dry and it's quite hard for players to last
the full 70 minutes in a game. Luckily, the weather was absolutely great with
clear blue skies.
During
the first half of the match, and with only 2 substitutes, CABJ started the half
with a lot of confidence by distributing the ball causing problems for our opponents.
First clear opportunity was presented to Affendi Amir, who shot the ball but
went agonisingly wide. The opening goal of the match came against the run of
play when CABJ didn’t managed to stop the opponents running man who then beat
the offside-trap and Sri Kenangan drew first blood.
Nonetheless, CABJ managed to score the equalizer as
Azrul Raimie's great run on the right, beating their defense line but was
stopped by a harsh tackle from their left back inside the penalty box. A penalty
was awarded and Ruffie duly converted the equalising spotkick perfectly just
before the stroke of halftime.
CABJ
were looking to get an early goal. Attack after attack, CABJ attackers
went all-out but the Sri Kenangan back line defended well. Against the run
of play again that caught our defenders off-guard a Sri Kenangan striker managed
to get into the swix-yard box but was brought down by Syed Sharil. The penalty
was converted.
CABJ
were left forcing to trail the game again. Many opportunities arose but CABJ couldn’t
turn them into goals. Late in the game, Affendi Amir was shown a red card for a
50/50 tackle on Sri Kenangan player. Affendi will miss two games as a result.
Match
ended 2-1 in favour to Sri Kenangan. Two consecutive defeats left us with only
3 points from 3 games played. We are looking forward to notching our first
competitive victory against next opponent’s Platinum Blastz.
