Know Your Glider #18 : Walter Ik Ming

Players Profile

DOB: 19 July 1990
Age: 23
Position: Left Back/Center Back
Jersey No: 18
Residency : Kubah, Bukit Jelutong

Well known as a player who only talks when it is necessary, Walter Ik Ming has been one of our precious gem at the back line of the pitch holding on to CABJ's defence. word of advice, we'd never take his shyness for granted as our very fit Walter leaves only memories of  his vicious bulldozing attempts when another is in his way whenever he is in action in the pitch.Though it might hurt or break, Walter's meant no harm, not even to a bee .. or at least that is what we want to believe.

We had the chance to interview him recently on his thoughts of CABJ being the Champ for Liga Perangsang Selangor 2013 and the preparation of the team in the upcoming battle in Perangsang Selangor Cup Finals next weekend against Southern FC.

Q: How do you feel about LPS?
A: This league is the most challenging so far because it's quite a long league with 12 teams participating and we're required to be consistent with our performance each week.

Q: What do you think has made us won the title this year?
A: I think the main factor that won us the league was our team spirit. We had our ups and downs but we remained focus throughout and just did our best. Kudos to our manager Brian Nathan with his superb team management. Special mention to BolaBall FC as they indirectly helped us by beating SA City during their last match in the league. That was the turning point of the season. Besides that, credit to the players for their determination and hard work.
Q: Which game was your best game throughout the league?
A: We played many good games but if I were to pick one it will be the game against B8. We knew they had good players but at the same time we knew our strengths. We played good defence and stayed focus especially when we were leading. That was also the game that ultimately put us a good position to win the league.
Q: How do you feel about the supporters that came to the games week in week out?
A: The supporters were great! Stood by us every game and cheered us on no matter what. It’s always nice to see people showing their support.

Q: What is your feeling towards the final of the PS Cup and the chance of us getting double this year?
A: It feels great! I'm sure everyone is looking forward to the final and hopefully we'll end the season with a double. We stand a good chance to win the cup however we need to stay focused on our game. Expect a very interesting game of football so be there!

From the Coach's Eyes:

"I have followed his football milestone since his schooldays. Walter has always shown great potential but only managed to display his true self in flashes. This year (back in 2012), he seemed to have come out of his shell more and shown more confidence, resulting in more polished displays culminating in his man of the match award. Can go on to greater heights but must be careful not to go back into his shell. Off the field, appears to be a very private person." – Safrizal Mohd Said Former but forever in heart, CABJ Coach

"A player who is quiet but gives his all on the pitch" – BrianNathan, Manager
