We are enormously
proud of the team even though they fell heartbreakingly short in a penalty shoot
out to AJ Ohana in the X-Elite League, final playoffs (semi)
Last year during the Pre Season League, CABJ
could only hold on to the quarterfinals but it seemed that there’s a great
progress this year. Though it was a loss in the final playoff (semi), it was
indeed a great fight to start with.
During the preliminary round against AJ Ohana,
CABJ faced the worst loss in the X Elite league with AJ ohana 5 – CABJ - 2. However,
CABJ were seen all ready for the re match in the final playoffs (semi) when they
were once again paired ith AJ Ohana.
Both team strived their best, played their
best and showed nothing the best during the final playoff (semi) at Stadium
Majlis Perbandaran Selayang on 8th April 2012.
During the 3rd half, last man,
Syamsul Hezri faced a minor injury and Imran Mazli were then raised a yellow
card. A shocking but fair decision by the referee when he then raised a red
card to Imran Mazli left CABJ with only 10 players in the extra time.
With only 10 gliders in the field, it didn’t break
CABJ but gave them more courage to fight back, defending the goal post and
attacking.
Fans and supporters of CABJ were seen in
orange and green beside the field giving support to the team when penalty
shootout commenced.
Our hero and also one of the man of the match of the game together
with Ikram Al Rasyid, goalkeeper, Wan Ajmal missed a few in the beginning of the penalty
shootout. however when Adi Wahyudi missed his opportunity to score fro CABJ,
Wan Ajmal saved a penalty kick by AJ Ohana and the penalty shootout continues.
Sadly, Akiff Sharifuddin missed a goal and Wan
Ajmal was seen determined to save the last goal by AJ Ohana but luck wasn’t on his
side that day.
Everyone in the stadium could hold their heads
high, for their effort against AJ Ohana and across the whole season after
battling a precarious position during the whole experience of the X Elite League.
“Everybody has
given everything, we are incredibly proud of our gliders and to the wonderful
fans who never gave up supporting us since day one”
CABJ were hit hard with 5-2
in the preliminary but this time a solid 0-0 till the penalty shootout.
Despite the tough
nature of the loss, CABJ Coach said “this is not it; with a little bit of luck
we could’ve beaten them. We are proud still”
“We played really well,
@CABJFootball. Luck was not on our side. We still have a long journey. Thanks for your support!” – Azrul Raimie, Vice President of CABJ
It was a hell of a game there in Majlis
Perbandaran Selayang, a great opponent to end the league with too.
"I wouldn't say it's tougher to lose on penalties but it's Russian roulette, it's not a nice way to lose but that's the way it is," he added, "The people that step up are brave enough to step up and if you score, great, and if you miss it's hard to take." - David Beckham
