It is a fact that a football game is a gruelling test of
power, strength and stamina. You Stand and run and use a full force of energy
in a game that lasts for 48 to 60 minutes. But most game requires quick bursts
of high-intensity effort. Proper pre-match nutrition can provide you with the
energy you need to take on the challenges of game day and an inappropriate pre
match nutrition however tell us another story.
Here’s a list of food to avoid and to eat any time before a
match as they are very high in fat and remain in
the stomach for a long time as it is very difficult to digest.
Supporters are advised not to offer the players potato chips before
a game to munch and this includes offering it to our Manager, Brian Nathan to
avoid from..well you know. . Lack of focus? (we’re kidding but the potato chips is true)
Avoid fast food such as MCD’d KFC’S, Burgers & hot Dogs which also includes the Coney & cream dogs we all love.
Last but not least Candy bars or anything sweet in general for the sweet tooth in CABJ. Sweets
do stabilize your blood pressure but try and avoid it before a game as it also
is high in fat which makes it difficult to digest especially for Candy or Chocolate bars and Ice cream.
If you eat the above food as pre-match meals, they will
likely be with you during the match. Avoid or limit eating these foods for your
pre match meal.
oh yes, you are what you eat. eat well gliders! |
“The night before games I’ll have chicken, pasta, fish: all
the normal stuff you would expect us to eat. If it’s an early kick-off, you try
and stock up the night before as much as you can, because you obviously can’t
eat too much in the morning. I’ll then have Coco Pops and a banana as a
pre-match meal and then when we get to the stadium, there are cereal bars in
the dressing room and energy gels which you can take if you feel you need them.”
