SACL: CABJ Out of Champions League

Written by Ahmed Barakat

Last Saturday was one of the worst days for CABJ, as they failed to collect a point to bring them through the semi final of Setia Alam Champions League 2013.

The match was against B8, a familiar team to us as we played in the Liga Perangsang Selangor. CABJ needed only one point to make it through while it was a must win match for B8.

The first half started quite fast, especially from CABJ side, as they were looking for an early goal, with the closest chance to score where Ruffie Abd Aziz fed the ball to Azrul Raimie Razi. A volley that was saved, the keeper then threw the ball to their striker and made a counter attack. A solo effort by the striker shocked CABJ when he scored the first goal. After a few minutes, B8 was awarded a free kick around the penalty area. The skipper scored the second goal from the free kick.

The second half started with some changes made by CABJ manager Aminuddin Helmy during halftime, especially on the midfields to try to get back to the match as Ungku Nazrin Hakim and Dzul Rahim Roseli replaced Imran Mazli and Ruffie Abd Aziz accordingly. CABJ players started pushing up for comeback but unfortunately the lack of focus made it difficult to create chances for score, while B8 managed to score again before the match ends and to finish the match with a 3-0 result.

It was a good experience for the Gliders, having played the Setia Alam Champions League for the first time. CABJ did not make it through end it marked the season ending for the club. We hope for a better achievements in the near future.

Final Score: CABJ 0-3 B8 FC
