SETIA ALAM CHAMPIONS LEAGUE 2014: CABJ vs Seven90's

After finishing third place in Munro Cup, CABJ has been awarded to play in Setia Alam Champions League (SACL) despite being third place in Liga Sentral Selangor. Being awarded to play in this big tournament is such a great feeling and CABJ didn’t disappoint with a win in the first match against Seven 90’s. The final score is 2-0 in favour of CABJ with goals came from Akif and Affendi.

It was a great weather on Sunday evening. The condition of the pitch isn’t what we expected from the weather. It was bad as there were matches played on Saturday. Despite the bad condition, CABJ managed to control the ball throughout the entire match. After losing on a friendly match against Seven 90’s the week before, CABJ was in a menacing mood to go all out attack.

In the first half of the match, both still in good condition which saw attack on both ends. Some moments of scared when Seven 90’s managed to create a counter attack leaving the striker one by one with CABJ’s no 1. The excellent pair of hands of Wan Ajmal saved the day countless times with a great stop. CABJ attacks looked more promising. Chances for Affendi, Azrul Raimie, Ameer Aizat, Ikram Al-Rashid, Imran and Akif all were blocked or slightly off target. First half ended 0-0.

Second half commenced, attack after attack, finally Azrul Raimie had been fouled just outside the penalty box. The freekick was perfectly placed at Ahmed Barakat path who headed the ball direct to the goalkeeper, and fortunately the rebound was tapped in by CABJ’s centre back, Akif who scored CABJ’s first goal. After the goal, CABJ continued to control the match with a lot of possession. Not long after that, CABJ get the second goal after Syed Sharil through pass was perfect for Affendi to burst into space who took out Seven 90’s defenders with his pace. A simple tap into the net was clearly enough to secure the second for CABJ.

Match ended 2-0. Special mention to CABJ’s two powerhouse, Dzul Rahim and Imran Mazli who did very well in the midfield. Stopping the attack and providing great balls were the key factors on CABJ’s success. Looking forward to CABJ’s second match in SACL. Hawushh!!
