SETIA ALAM CHAMPIONS LEAGUE 2014: CABJ vs Seven90's

After finishing third place in Munro Cup, CABJ has been awarded to play in Setia Alam Champions League (SACL) despite being third place in Liga Sentral Selangor. Being awarded to play in this big tournament is such a great feeling and CABJ didn’t disappoint with a win in the first match against Seven 90’s. The final score is 2-0 in favour of CABJ with goals came from Akif and Affendi.

It was a great weather on Sunday evening. The condition of the pitch isn’t what we expected from the weather. It was bad as there were matches played on Saturday. Despite the bad condition, CABJ managed to control the ball throughout the entire match. After losing on a friendly match against Seven 90’s the week before, CABJ was in a menacing mood to go all out attack.

In the first half of the match, both still in good condition which saw attack on both ends. Some moments of scared when Seven 90’s managed to create a counter attack leaving the striker one by one with CABJ’s no 1. The excellent pair of hands of Wan Ajmal saved the day countless times with a great stop. CABJ attacks looked more promising. Chances for Affendi, Azrul Raimie, Ameer Aizat, Ikram Al-Rashid, Imran and Akif all were blocked or slightly off target. First half ended 0-0.

Second half commenced, attack after attack, finally Azrul Raimie had been fouled just outside the penalty box. The freekick was perfectly placed at Ahmed Barakat path who headed the ball direct to the goalkeeper, and fortunately the rebound was tapped in by CABJ’s centre back, Akif who scored CABJ’s first goal. After the goal, CABJ continued to control the match with a lot of possession. Not long after that, CABJ get the second goal after Syed Sharil through pass was perfect for Affendi to burst into space who took out Seven 90’s defenders with his pace. A simple tap into the net was clearly enough to secure the second for CABJ.

Match ended 2-0. Special mention to CABJ’s two powerhouse, Dzul Rahim and Imran Mazli who did very well in the midfield. Stopping the attack and providing great balls were the key factors on CABJ’s success. Looking forward to CABJ’s second match in SACL. Hawushh!!

MUNRO INVITATIONAL FOOTBALL CUP 2014 (3rd Placing): CABJ vs Real Diva

CABJ VS Real Diva (3rd Place match for Munro Cup 2014)

After CABJ failed to win their semi-final match against Southern FC, we were set to play against Real Diva who defeated Subang FC in their semi-final match. Real Diva prove to be the ‘Dark Horse’ in this tournament as no one expected them to reach this far.

The semi-final match against Real Diva was played at UiTM’s Sport Complex. The weather is nice for a football match since throughout this year end, Malaysia will experience rainy weather. The field was superb. Unlike the one CABJ played at 3K when it’s rain.

The match kick-off. Both teams played well. Controlling the ball. Passing around but there are no real chances in front of the goal. Late in the first half, Real Diva took their opportunity to score a goal after a scramble in front of CABJ penalty box after a free kick given to them. Unfortunately, CABJ's no 4, Imran Mazli intention to clear the ball was unlucky since the ball flew into the net and beating Wan Ajmal. A superb own goal by our no 4. First half Real Diva lead 1-0.

In the second half, CABJ kept on attacking but Real Diva’s defends was very stubborn and solid as they used experience centre back who controlled firmly the backline. All of the attacks was held by their two experienced centre back. Ungku Nazrin, CABJ striker who played centre midfielder role that day took the opportunity that was given to him after Imran Mazli road to redemption was again blocked. Rebound ball was straight away striked by Ungku Nazrin from long range to beat Real Diva’s goalkeeper. The match ended 1-1 as both teams didn't manage to find the winning goal.

According to Munro Cup rules, there is no extra time given after a draw. The referee called both captains and told them that penalty kick will decide who wins the 2nd runner up of Munro Cup.

CABJ Penalty takers:
1.       Ikram Al-Rashid (Missed)
2.       Imran Mazli
3.       Norrizal Wazir
4.       Ahmed Barakat
5.       Rashyad
6.       Ameer Aizat
7.       Affendi

Real Diva’s first kicker missed the penalty which was saved by our outstanding Wan Ajmal who did saved few of Real Diva’s shots. Unfortunately, Ikram Al-Rashid, CABJ’s captain also missed the first kick. Then the penalty shoot-out come to an end after the referee decided sudden death penalty. Luckily CABJ get to kick the ball and Real Diva need to keep it out the net. Affendi took the last penalty which sealed CABJ as 2nd runner up of Munro Cup.

MUNRO INVITATIONAL FOOTBALL CUP 2014: CABJ vs Southern FC

Result: CABJ 1 - 2 Southern FC

Stats:-
Goal scorer: Ruffie

Venue of the game was at Setia Alam, The game kicked off at 5:30 p.m.

Finally, the long awaited clash between CABJ and Southern has emerged. Southern was among the elite teams that made it through to the Semis, and the winner of this game will definitely go to the Finals. The atmosphere before the game was very tense because both teams needed the win in order to qualify for the Finals.

Early in the first half, both teams were very cautious in their gameplay as they don't want to make mistakes that can cost them the game. Also, Southern showed no intention to press CABJ as CABJ managed to hold on the ball possession. After a while, the game looked to be more open and both teams started to attack on both ends. But eventually, it was Southern's luck as they broke the deadlock in the midst of half time. The goal came from a corner kick as the ball curled directly into the nearpost unguarded by our defender. The goal was a blunder, as it was the defender's duty to clear the ball but didn't manage to. Southern lead a goal to nil right before half time.

During the interval, the coach told us to put in more aggression and determination into the game as we were chasing a goal down. Some changes were made and second half continues.

During second half, CABJ put more effort in their attack thus making Southern on their toe whilst defending. Their defensive backline was busy throughout the second half as CABJ looking for the equaliser. Later, we managed to get a penalty and it was converted by Ruffie. 1-1 the scoreline, and CABJ were looking for the winning goal. But again, luck was on Southern's side as they scored the winning goal late in the game that was finished by their target man Chris. Unlucky day for CABJ...

Final scoreline CABJ 1 - 2 Southern FC.
